Outgoing Ministers Express Gratitude Following Rwanda Cabinet Reshuffle

Kigali, June 11, 2026 - Former Minister of Trade and Industry, Prudence Sebahizi, and former State Minister in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye, have expressed gratitude to President Paul Kagame following their replacement in the latest government reshuffle.

The changes, announced on the night of June 10, saw Sebahizi replaced at the Ministry of Trade and Industry by former Permanent Secretary at the ministry, Antoine Marie Kajangwe. Uwihanganye also left his position as State Minister in the Ministry of Infrastructure as part of the cabinet adjustments.

In a message shared after the announcement, Sebahizi thanked President Kagame for entrusting him with the role of Minister of Trade and Industry, a position he had held for two years. He highlighted achievements made alongside fellow ministers and ministry staff, particularly in advancing industrial development, private sector growth, trade integration, and regional cooperation.

Sebahizi described the progress achieved during his tenure as an important contribution to Rwanda’s economic development and extended congratulations to his successor, Kajangwe, expressing confidence in his ability to build on existing achievements.

Sebahizi had been appointed Minister of Trade and Industry on August 16, 2024, replacing Jean Chrysostome Ngabitsinze following cabinet appointments made by President Kagame.

Uwihanganye also issued a message of appreciation, thanking the president for the opportunity to serve, as well as for guidance and support received during his time in office. He praised the dedication and cooperation of staff at the Ministry of Infrastructure and affirmed his willingness to continue contributing to national development.

Uwihanganye joined the government in July 2025 after previously serving as Rwanda’s ambassador to Singapore.
