Nsengiyumva Represents Kagame At AU Conflict Prevention Summit

Kigali, August 29, 2026 - Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva arrived in Luanda, Angola, to represent President Paul Kagame at the 21st Extraordinary Summit of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government, placing Rwanda in high-level continental talks on conflict prevention.

The summit, scheduled for August 30, is being held under the theme "Strengthening Mechanisms for Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa." It follows the 26th Extraordinary Summit of the AU Executive Council on August 29.

The meeting is focused on strengthening Africa's peace and security architecture, including conflict prevention, governance, and coordination between the AU, regional economic communities, and other regional security institutions.

Rwanda's participation places Kigali in continental discussions on crisis prevention and mediation at a time when regional security arrangements remain central to investor risk assessments across Africa.
