Niamey, Niger - Niger’s government announced measurable progress in its preparedness and response to natural disasters, particularly flooding. At a press briefing on Thursday, October 30, 2025, Minister of Equipment and Infrastructure Colonel Major Salissou Mahaman Salissou, First Vice-President of the National Committee for Flood Prevention and Management (CNPGI), outlined the outcomes of the 2025 rainy season.

Officials highlighted that coordinated pre-emptive measures, infrastructure improvements, and enhanced early-warning systems contributed to a “net improvement” in flood management compared to previous years, effectively reducing potential damage and displacement.
