Niger Inaugurates Tillabéri Corniche Development and Paving Works
Tillabéri, December 13, 2025 - The Minister of Equipment and Infrastructure, Colonel-Major Salissou Mahaman Salissou, officially inaugurated the Tillabéri Corniche development and paving works today, a flagship project under the Refounding of the Republic program of President Abdourahmane Tiani.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Environment, Water Resources and Sanitation, Colonel Maizama Abdoulaye; the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of the Budget, Mr. Mamane Sidi; and the resident representative of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) in Niger, Mr. Moustapha Diao.
The project covers a 3 km stretch along the Niger River, with a 2 x 3.50 meter roadway on each side, and includes ancillary works such as loading docks and commercial warehouses. Financed by the State of Niger through a BOAD loan, it aims to modernize urban infrastructure, improve mobility, enhance the economic attractiveness of the Tillabéri region, and raise the quality of life for residents.
In his address, Colonel-Major Salissou Mahaman Salissou reaffirmed the Government's commitment, under the leadership of President Abdourahmane Tiani and coordination of Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, to accelerate key infrastructure projects supporting the economic and social development of local communities.
This inauguration follows, one month later, the rehabilitation of National Route 4, Farié-Téra section (112 km), also led by the Ministry of Equipment and Infrastructure, marking a decisive step in connectivity and the transformation of the Tillabéri region, demonstrating Niger’s drive for modern, sustainable, and inclusive infrastructure.
