Abalak, December 15, 2025 - The Abalak-Tamaya road rehabilitation project, funded by the Chinese government, is advancing rapidly in 2025. Launched in November 2024 and scheduled for completion in May 2027, the project focuses on modernizing a crucial 70.92 km section of National Route N25, enhancing regional connectivity and economic development.

The project involves the complete reconstruction of the road surface, drainage systems, and protective structures, as well as the installation of road equipment and signage.

As of December 2025:

The temporary bypass road is fully operational.

78% of earthworks and grading of the main platform have been completed.

14 of 43 planned culverts are constructed, representing 32% of the hydraulic engineering work.

The pace of work has exceeded the technical targets set for 2025, confirming the feasibility of the project within the allotted timeframe and demonstrating the commitment of both Niger and China to improving transport infrastructure and regional development.
