Niamey, December 17, 2025 - Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Mahaman Lamine Zeine, presided over the official inauguration ceremony of the PK7 + 250 bridge, also known as the “Sorey Bridge”, on National Route 1 East, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. He was accompanied by the Minister of Equipment and Infrastructure, Colonel-Major Salissou Mahaman Salissou.

The Sorey Bridge consists of two adjacent 100-meter spans, each with an 8-meter-wide roadway and two lanes in each direction, with a clearance under the beams of 8 meters.

Financed by the State of Niger through three loan agreements with the West African Development Bank (BOAD), the construction of the bridge is part of a broader road development and paving project in Niamey.

During the ceremony, the Minister of Equipment and Infrastructure highlighted that exceptional rainfall in 2024 had severely disrupted the national road network, submerging the previous 38-meter bridge at kilometer marker 7 + 250, causing embankment collapse and traffic interruptions. The project incorporated updated hydrological and hydraulic studies to ensure adaptation to climate change.

Upon completion, the Prime Minister praised the contribution of all involved in realizing this strategic infrastructure, particularly President General Abdourahamane Tiani, Head of State. The ceremony was attended by members of the National Committee for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSP), government representatives, and numerous civilian and military dignitaries.
