New Violations Against Tuareg Civilians Reported
Kidal, January 23, 2026 - Local sources reported that a joint patrol of the Malian army and mercenaries from the Russian African Corps committed serious abuses against civilians in the Kidal region. According to reports, the patrol killed a civilian, Matkane Ag Amouman, burned several houses, and sabotaged a water tower along with its solar power system in the locality of Ighchar Sdidane. The same group also abducted, executed, and beheaded an 84-year-old man, Attaouyoub Ag Iknan, in the Intadayni area, near the city of Kidal.
