National dialogue in the DRC: the roadmap drawn up by religious denominations marks a decisive step
Kinshasa, October 3, 2025 - The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bintou Keita, welcomed before the Security Council the initiative of the country's main religious denominations, which have drawn up a roadmap for a national and inclusive dialogue. This initiative, supported by President Félix Tshisekedi, aims to establish a climate of trust conducive to the 2028 general elections.
The roadmap consists of four stages: the "Month of Peace", dialogue between experts, political dialogue bringing together the opposition, the majority and civil society, and finally an international conference on peace and good living in the Great Lakes region. Ms Keita stressed that without this initiative, the 2028 elections could take place in a climate of mistrust and insecurity.
