Museveni to Commission Major Cement Plant in Karamoja

Moroto April 19, 2026 - President Yoweri Museveni is set to commission a new cement and clinker manufacturing plant in Karamoja, marking a significant milestone in Uganda’s industrialisation drive and regional economic transformation. The facility, developed by Yaobai Cement Uganda, is located in Moroto and represents an investment of more than US$300 million. Officials describe it as one of the largest industrial projects in northern Uganda, with the potential to reshape the country’s manufacturing landscape.
