Museveni Opens $125 Million Roofings Steel Plant In Namanve
Namanve, August 26, 2026 - President Yoweri Museveni opened a $125 million Roofings steel plant in Namanve, underscoring Uganda's push to deepen domestic industrial capacity and attract large-scale manufacturing investment.
Museveni praised the Roofings investment as a boost to Uganda's steel industry, a sector central to construction, infrastructure development and import substitution.
The plant adds to Namanve's role as a major industrial hub near Kampala, where manufacturers benefit from proximity to the capital, transport links and a growing domestic market.
For investors, the opening signals continued government support for heavy industry and value addition, though competitiveness will depend on power reliability, logistics costs and regional demand.
