Museveni Intervenes In Mulago Land Dispute
Kampala, August 25, 2026 - President Yoweri Museveni intervened in a contested land matter in Mulago, underscoring the political sensitivity of high-value urban land and compensation disputes in the capital.
The dispute concerns land on Kibuga Block 5, plot 3531, in Kiwonvu cell, Mulago 2 ward, Kawempe Division. Kampala Capital City Authority had issued temporary development permission to M/s Maldes Advocates to remodel an existing structure on the site.
Family members involved in the dispute claim government officials have pressed them to accept about Shs2.9 billion per acre if the government buys the land at about Shs7.3 billion per acre.
The case highlights continuing investor risks around land valuation, title clarity and state intervention in Kampala's urban property market.
