Museveni Defends Ministers' Anti-Corruption Inspection Tours

By Amina Kabasele2 min read

Kampala, August 27, 2026 - President Yoweri Museveni defended anti-corruption inspection tours being conducted by Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahara and State Minister Justine Nameere, framing the effort as a response to longstanding public complaints about corruption.

Museveni dismissed concerns that the ministers were blindly searching for wrongdoing, saying the inspections were intended to address citizen grievances, including allegations of corruption in public administration.

The tours place local government accountability back on the national agenda and signal continued political pressure on public officials over service delivery and misuse of public resources.

For investors, the campaign is relevant to governance risk, procurement oversight and the operating environment in districts where local government decisions affect permits, land, infrastructure and service delivery.
