More Than 330 Arrested in Large-Scale Security Operation in Djibouti City
Djibouti, April 21, 2026 - A large-scale security operation conducted by the gendarmerie in Djibouti City’s District 7 has resulted in the arrest of more than 330 individuals suspected of involvement in various illegal activities, including trafficking.
The early morning operation, launched around 5:00 a.m., mobilised units from the Djibouti gendarmerie company, supported by mobile intervention forces, and targeted a densely populated working-class neighbourhood.
Authorities said the objective of the operation was to identify and apprehend individuals suspected of criminal activity as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety and dismantle urban criminal networks.
According to official figures, 331 people were arrested during the operation, including seven individuals who were already wanted by security services.
