Mopti School Closed by JNIM-Affiliated Group
Mopti, March 10, 2026 - Local sources report that the Macina Katiba, a faction affiliated with Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM), forced the closure of a school in the village of Dia, located in the Tenenkou district of the Mopti region.
The closure, which took place on March 10, reflects continued pressure from jihadist groups on educational institutions in central Mali, raising concerns over access to schooling and the safety of students and teachers in conflict-affected areas.
Authorities have not yet issued an official response regarding the incident or measures to reopen the school.
