Kindu, Maniema, DRC - The construction of the Ulundi bridge on National Route 31 (RN31), which links Kindu to Kisangani, Goma, and Bukavu, has reached a key milestone with the release of funds by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the OPEC Fund (OFID).

The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, by Matthieu Kamulete Amisi, acting provincial coordinator of the Inclusive and Resilient Rural Development Support Program (PADRIR), during the second conference on mining, energy, and infrastructure in Maniema.

Technical studies are scheduled to begin in 2026, with construction expected to start in 2027. Situated between Kailo and Punia, the strategic bridge is designed to improve connectivity within Maniema, stimulate economic recovery, and facilitate the transport of agricultural products and inputs to local markets.
