Malians Urged to Show Resilience and Unity Amid National Crisis

Bamako, Mali - As Mali continues to face a series of economic and security challenges, community, religious, and traditional leaders are calling on citizens to remain vigilant, united, and resilient in support of national stability.

Speaking on behalf of the founding families of Niaré, Touré, and Dravé, Mamoutou Niaré, interim patriarch of the Niaré family, urged Malians to stay steadfast and supportive of government efforts to overcome the current crisis.

“We must know where we are going, ignore distractions, and protect our leaders,” he said. “Those who have lost loved ones or possessions have sacrificed for the nation. Let us honor them through resilience and unity.”

He also appealed to traditional authorities to encourage Malians to “tighten their belts” and remain engaged in efforts to restore peace across the country.

Echoing similar sentiments, Reverend Dr. Nouh Ag Infa Yattara, General Delegate of the Evangelical Protestant Church of Mali (AGEMPEM), praised the population’s resilience and called for renewed patriotism and solidarity.

“These hardships are temporary. We commend the authorities for their efforts to address challenges in fuel, electricity, and security,” he said, adding that the church is dedicating prayers and fasting “for peace and national recovery.”

Jonas Dembélé, President of the Episcopal Conference of Mali, also urged Catholics to remain steadfast in prayer and action for peace.

“Let us ask God to make Mali a land of justice and peace,” he said. “The Bishops invite all Christian communities to persevere in prayer and to become peacemakers, advocates of justice, forgiveness, and reconciliation.”

Meanwhile, Chief Commissioner Panama Dembélé, Commander of the Road Traffic Group, commended citizens for their patience during the ongoing fuel shortage, urging continued civic discipline at fuel stations.

“We thank the population for its resilience and cooperation,” he said. “Respecting the order of arrival at fuel stations will help avoid congestion and allow emergency vehicles to operate freely.”

He reassured the public that the authorities are taking all necessary measures to find a lasting solution to the crisis.
