Malian Justice Minister Welcomes New Bar Association Council Members
Bamako, January 21, 2026 - The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights hosted the presentation of the new members of the Malian Bar Association Council to Minister Mamoudou Kassogue on Wednesday.
In his address, the new Bar Association President, Souleymane Soumounthera, paid tribute to the outgoing council, particularly Ousmane Bouba Traoré, for his leadership, and introduced his team, pledging to uphold justice and combat lawlessness. He also highlighted plans for organizing the WAEMU Congress in Bamako.
Minister Kassogue welcomed the new council, congratulated its members, and praised Ms. Soumounthera for her professional and moral qualities. He expressed gratitude to the outgoing council for their tireless work under challenging conditions.
The minister reaffirmed his and the highest authorities’ support for the council, emphasizing that a strong judicial system depends on the active participation of lawyers, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the Bar Association and the Ministry of Justice for an effective judicial system in Mali.
