Mali Targets CFA 1.45 Trillion in Government Bond Issuances for 2026
Bamako, January 6, 2026 - Mali has unveiled its 2026 government securities issuance calendar, aiming to mobilize 1.45 trillion CFA francs on the regional financial market of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).
The program forms part of the government’s strategy to meet its financing needs through structured, market-based instruments.
According to details presented at the launch ceremony, the annual target is distributed as follows:
340 billion CFA francs in the first quarter
400 billion CFA francs in the second quarter
430 billion CFA francs in the third quarter
280 billion CFA francs in the fourth quarter
Authorities stated that this quarterly allocation is intended to enhance market transparency and allow investors to better plan their participation throughout the year.
Mali Inaugurates Tier III Data Center, Advances Digital Sovereignty
As part of the third edition of Mali’s Digital Week, Minister of Communication, Digital Economy and Administrative Modernization Alhamdou Ag Ilyène officially inaugurated a Tier III Data Center, a strategic infrastructure aimed at strengthening national and regional digital sovereignty.
The ceremony was attended by digital ministers from Niger and Burkina Faso, members of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).
Designed to meet high international standards, the facility guarantees 99.982% service availability, full redundancy of critical systems, uninterrupted operations during maintenance, and advanced physical and cybersecurity safeguards.
The data center will provide secure hosting for:
Government databases and critical applications
National e-government platforms and public digital services
Future shared digital infrastructure within the AES region
Officials emphasized that the infrastructure will reduce dependence on foreign hosting services, enhance cybersecurity, and create a foundation for the development of artificial intelligence, digital financial services, and sovereign digital platforms.
According to participating ministers, control over national data hosting and processing is essential for protecting sensitive state information and reinforcing independent public decision-making.
