Mali: Six Schoolchildren Die in Canoe Capsize in Bafoulabé (November 28, 2025)
Bamako, November 28, 2025 - In Galoukoné, in the commune of Mahina (Bafoulabé circle). A canoe carrying 36 people capsized around 7:00 a.m., leading to the deaths of six schoolchildren-five girls and one boy-all attending primary and secondary school.
Thanks to rapid intervention, 30 passengers were rescued. All six bodies were recovered, and the victims were buried in the village at 11:00 a.m. the same day.
