Mali Situation Raises International Alarm
November 18, 2025
At the United Nations, the United States representative issued a stark warning on the situation in Mali: “The situation in Mali is critical, and Al-Qaeda is seeking to take control of the entire country. The situation is deteriorating rapidly.”
Echoing this concern, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf reiterated his country’s commitment to regional security: “We had warned about the rise of terrorism in Mali, and our country remains determined to support its brothers.”
The statements highlight growing international concern over Mali’s security, as extremist groups expand their influence amid escalating violence and instability.
