Mali’s Health Minister Meets Pharmacists’ Unions to Discuss Reimbursement Challenges

Bamako, March 9, 2026 - Colonel-Major Assa Badiallo Touré, Minister of Health and Social Development, met on Monday with representatives of the pharmacists’ unions SYNAPPO and SYNAPHARM to address procedural delays in reimbursements for services rendered.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Health, provided a platform for union leaders to present challenges faced by pharmacists in receiving timely payments under the Mandatory Health Insurance system.

Union representatives highlighted the need to revise the reimbursement process to improve financial management between healthcare providers and insurers, aiming to ensure more efficient compensation for services delivered.

The discussions underscore the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Mali’s healthcare system and support frontline healthcare professionals.
