Mali Reviews Fuel Supply Chain as Authorities Report Sustained Hydrocarbon Imports

Bamako, April 9, 2026 - The Government of Mali has reaffirmed its efforts to stabilize petroleum product supply and strengthen oversight of the hydrocarbons sector amid ongoing distribution constraints. The 19th consultation meeting with stakeholders in the sector was chaired by Minister Moussa Alassane Diallo, and focused on monitoring national fuel availability, identifying logistical bottlenecks, and reinforcing measures against illegal practices in the market. Officials reported that between March 30 and April 5, a total of 640 fuel tankers were received, corresponding to approximately 29 million liters of petroleum products. Authorities described these figures as evidence of continued efforts by operators to sustain supply levels despite persistent challenges. For the current week, projections indicate the dispatch of 522 tankers across the country, signaling ongoing distribution operations aimed at meeting national demand. The meeting also reviewed March import data, which recorded a cumulative volume of 116 million liters of fuel entering the country.
