Mali Repatriates 150 Citizens on International Migrants Day
Bamako, December 18, 2025 - In observance of International Migrants Day, 150 Malians in distress were repatriated via Niger through a partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The returning citizens were welcomed by Minister Mossa Ag Attaher, who emphasized efforts toward their socio-economic reintegration.
Authorities highlight that this operation reflects the government’s commitment to its diaspora and strengthens national cohesion. However, experts caution that without long-term migration reforms, such initiatives do not tackle the underlying causes of migration flows.
