Mali Praises Justice Sector Cooperation as EUCAP Sahel Mission Chief Concludes Mandate
Bamako, April 7, 2026 - Mali has expressed appreciation for its cooperation with the European Union’s civilian security mission following the end of tenure of the Head of EUCAP Sahel Mali.
The Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Keeper of the Seals, Mamoudou Kassogué, received Mr. Peter Kolding in a formal farewell audience marking the conclusion of his mandate.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Malian authorities to review what they described as an “excellent partnership” with the EUCAP Sahel Mali, particularly in supporting the modernization of judicial infrastructure and strengthening the capacities of justice sector actors.
Officials highlighted the mission’s contribution to reinforcing the rule of law and improving the resilience of Mali’s justice system through technical and institutional support.
In recognition of his work, Minister Kassogué presented Mr. Kolding with an artistic Ciwara, a traditional Malian symbol representing courage, effort, and excellence, as a tribute to his service and commitment during his tenure.
The ceremony underscored what both sides described as a sustained partnership built on cooperation, mutual respect, and shared objectives in support of peace and justice in Mali.
