Mali-Morocco Relations: Suspension of Electronic Travel Authorization to Ease Mobility

Bamako, April 23, 2026 - Morocco has announced the suspension of the Electronic Travel Authorization to Morocco (AEVM) for Malian nationals, in a move expected to facilitate travel and strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries. The decision was formally communicated to Mali’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bamako. It is set to take effect on April 27, 2026. Authorities in Bamako have welcomed the measure, viewing it as a significant step toward enhancing cooperation and easing mobility between Mali and Morocco. Until now, Malian travelers were required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization prior to departure, a system designed to regulate migration flows and strengthen pre-arrival screening procedures.
