Mali Marks International Women’s Day with Conference on Women’s Rights

Bamako, March 12, 2026 - Mamoudou Kassogue, Mali’s Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Keeper of the Seals, co-chaired the opening of a conference-debate on Thursday at the Bamako International Conference Center (CICB) to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Organized by the Network of African Women and Parliamentarians of Mali (REFAMP/Mali), the event focused on the theme: “Women’s and Girls’ Rights: Acting for a Safe and Equitable Future in a Resilient, Unified, and Sovereign Mali.” Minister Kassogue described the theme as highly relevant, highlighting the crucial role women play in shaping the country’s development and resilience.

In his address, the Minister paid tribute to the founders of REFAMP/Mali, noting that since its creation in 1996, the organization has played a key role in advocating for women’s empowerment and rights.

Before officially opening the ceremony, Kassogue assured participants of his and his ministry’s full commitment to supporting women in their ongoing efforts to protect and promote women’s rights across Mali.
