Mali | Malian Foreign Minister Meets with UNICEF Representatives
Bamako, January 13, 2026 - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, received Gilles Fagninou, UNICEF Regional Director for West and Central Africa, and Pierre Ngom, UNICEF Representative in Mali, on January 13, 2026.
Mr. Diop commended UNICEF’s support for child protection and emphasized the alignment of its activities with the principles of good governance and Mali’s national priorities.
Mr. Fagninou highlighted the ongoing development of a new cooperation program, conducted in close consultation, and the priority given to ensuring the optimal functioning of the country office.
Mr. Diop also praised Mr. Ngom’s commitment and professionalism in strengthening cooperation with Mali. He concluded by welcoming the spirit of consultation and dialogue established with UNICEF for the effective implementation of the program and the support provided to the government’s efforts in child protection.
