Mali Launches Justice Reform Monitoring Committee to Oversee Sector Changes

Bamako, June 15, 2026 - Mali has established a new committee to monitor the implementation of reforms in the justice sector, bringing together senior judicial officials, ministry representatives, and professional bodies to guide the reform process.

The inaugural meeting of the Justice Reform Monitoring Committee was held at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights in Bamako. The body comprises members of the ministry's General Secretariat, the ministerial cabinet, heads of judicial institutions, and representatives of professional associations.

The committee has been tasked with ensuring that ongoing justice reforms are effectively implemented while aligning them with practical realities and the needs of court users.

Opening the meeting, Minister of Justice and Human Rights Mamoudou Kassogué emphasized the importance of collective expertise in coordinating, evaluating, and adjusting reform initiatives to improve the performance of the justice system.

Following contributions from representatives of professional associations and the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), the minister welcomed recent legislative progress in promoting judicial ethics and professional conduct, while reaffirming the government's commitment to addressing remaining shortcomings to build a more efficient and effective justice system.
