Mali Launches 2025-2026 Sugar Campaign, Government Reassures on Supply
Ségou, February 5, 2026 - Mali’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Moussa Alassane Diallo, officially launched the 2025-2026 sugar campaign on Thursday at the Séribala and Bewani sugar complexes in the Ségou region. The minister was accompanied by senior officials from his department, including the National Director of Industry and a representative of the National Transitional Council (CNT), alongside regional and local authorities. Repairs Completed After August Attacks During a tour of the Séribala industrial facilities, Minister Diallo confirmed that repairs following the attacks last August had been successfully completed. He stated that restoration work was carried out efficiently through the joint mobilization of Malian and Chinese technical teams, underscoring the strength of the bilateral technical partnership. Assurance on Sugar Availability The official launch of the campaign comes amid concerns about production disruptions. Authorities reassured the public that industrial operations have resumed normally and that sugar supply will be maintained throughout the campaign. The event signals the government’s commitment to ensuring continuity in strategic agro-industrial production despite security and logistical challenges.
