Bamako, April 4, 2026 - Mali has reaffirmed the strategic importance of its diaspora in national development during a gala event marking five years of activity by the Union of Ambassadors (UDA) in the country.
The event, held in Bamako, brought together members of the UDA, an organization composed of professionals and entrepreneurs, many of whom belong to the Malian diaspora and contribute to socio-economic development initiatives within the country.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, attended the ceremony at the invitation of the organization, conveying the congratulations of Mali’s highest authorities to diaspora communities and acknowledging their role in national progress.
In his remarks, Minister Diop emphasized that diaspora contributions extend beyond financial remittances, highlighting their expertise, skills, and civic engagement as key drivers of development. He reiterated government support for initiatives aimed at strengthening collaboration between diaspora networks and domestic development projects.
UDA representatives, for their part, reaffirmed their commitment to fostering stronger links between talent, investment networks, and structured development initiatives, with the aim of increasing the impact of diaspora engagement on Mali’s economic and social transformation.
