Mali Finalizes Preparations for the ESA Heads of State Summit (December 4, 2025)
Bamako, December 4, 2025 - The Steering Committee of the ESA National Committee convened on Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Major General Abdoulaye Maïga to review preparations for the upcoming summit of the Confederation of Sahel States (ESA). The second session of the College of Heads of State of the Confederation is scheduled to take place in Bamako on December 22-23, 2025.
The meeting focused on assessing technical and organizational aspects of the main events in December, including the meeting of senior officials (December 15-18) and the first session of the Confederation's Council of Ministers (December 20-21). Highlighting the importance of the summit, the Prime Minister called for full mobilization to ensure flawless execution. He praised the efforts of the involved ministries and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the ESA’s first-year roadmap, under the chairmanship of General Assimi Goïta.
Concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the strategic significance of this ESA session, describing it as a pivotal moment to consolidate shared ambitions, strengthen regional cooperation, and chart a path toward a more stable and prosperous future for member countries.
