Mali and Japan Explore Cooperation in Justice and Human Rights

Bamako, March 13, 2026 - Mamoudou Kassogue, Mali’s Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Keeper of the Seals, met with the Japanese Ambassador to Mali on Friday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of justice and human rights.

The discussions focused on promoting the rule of law, enhancing citizens’ access to justice, and advancing judicial reforms in Mali. Minister Kassogue highlighted the longstanding friendship and collaboration between Mali and Japan, emphasizing the government’s commitment to modernizing the judicial system.

The Japanese ambassador reaffirmed his country’s readiness to support Mali through cooperation programs, technical assistance, and exchanges of expertise aimed at consolidating justice and human rights initiatives in the country.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to deepen international partnerships in governance and legal reform.
