Mali and Algeria Pursue Diplomatic Thaw, Reopening Skies and Ambassador Channels
Bamako, July 10, 2026 - Bamako/Algiers, July 10, 2026 - A Council of Ministers communiqué and subsequent reporting marked a diplomatic détente with Algeria, including steps to reopen Malian airspace arrangements and restore ambassadorial presence after a prolonged freeze.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune later reiterated non-interference and neighbourly support while blaming external actors for seeding terrorism in the Sahel.
Aviation stakeholders said any durable air reconciliation would matter for carriers and for Bamako-Algiers people-to-people links.
