On Thursday, November 13, 2025, Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Lieutenant General Ismaël Wague, Minister of Reconciliation, Peace and National Cohesion and Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Mali, co-chaired the National Steering Committee for the Peacebuilding Investment Mechanism in Mali. The session included the Chargé d'Affaires of Canada, UN Women representatives, and members of civil society.

The meeting focused on validating projects to be funded by the Women, Peace and Humanitarian Action Fund, ensuring compliance with eligibility criteria and alignment with national priorities.

The Steering Committee approved ten projects aimed at strengthening women's capacities in conflict prevention and crisis and emergency response, contributing to peacebuilding. The total budget for these initiatives is approximately US$1,158,000 (around 650,000,000 CFA francs).

Highlighting the significant progress made, the Committee emphasized the need for inclusive stakeholder involvement, adherence to national procedures, and regular operational monitoring and evaluation. Members urged all stakeholders to ensure the projects deliver meaningful impact for the population, particularly women, enhancing living conditions and fostering social cohesion.
