Kongo-Central: Provincial deputies summoned to Kinshasa amid institutional crisis
Kinshasa, September 29, 2025 - Deputy Prime Minister of the Interior Shabani Lukoo Bihango summoned the provincial deputies of Kongo-Central, members of the bureau and petitioners to Kinshasa for urgent consultations as political tensions intensify. The crisis erupted on 30 September with the filing of five petitions against the provincial assembly's bureau at the start of the parliamentary session, before taking a legal turn on 1 October when MP Mantezolo referred the matter to the Constitutional Court.
Between political manoeuvring and legal action, the Kongo-Central case has now taken on national significance.
