Kolwezi, Lualaba - April 27, 2026

The Democratic Republic of Congo is preparing to host the Mining Tech Summit in Kolwezi, a high-level event aimed at accelerating innovation and digital transformation within the country’s mining industry.

The summit, scheduled for April 30, 2026, will bring together government officials, private sector actors, and technology stakeholders to explore ways of modernizing mining operations through structured technological outsourcing and innovation.

The Minister of Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises, Justin Kalumba Mwana-Ngongo, is expected to participate in the event, which is being held under the patronage of Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka.

Organized in Kolwezi at the Convention Village, the summit is coordinated with the Ministry of Digital Economy and the Regulatory Authority for Outsourcing in the Private Sector, alongside public and private partners involved in economic modernization initiatives.

According to organizers, the event will focus on two main priorities: building a structured and competitive technology subcontracting ecosystem to support the mining sector, and aligning regulators, industry players, and innovators around common standards to improve competitiveness and efficiency.

The initiative is part of broader government efforts to integrate Congolese small and medium-sized enterprises into mining value chains, a sector considered central to the country’s economic development.

Officials say the summit is also intended to encourage the emergence of local technological solutions capable of supporting industrial and digital transformation, while reinforcing a regulatory framework that promotes innovation and investment in the mining sector.
