Kinshasa Mourns Death of Teacher Bonette Elombe, Inspirational Educator
Kinshasa, October 23, 2025 - The Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship announced on Monday, 20 October 2025, the passing of teacher Bonette Elombe, a widely admired figure in the Congolese education sector.
Renowned for her commitment and innovative teaching methods, Elombe had gained a large following on social media and was a prominent contributor to the Primary Education Quality Improvement Project (PEQIP).
The ministry paid tribute to her as a “dedicated and admired teacher”, while Prime Minister Judith Suminwa remembered her as “a passionate and creative educator who made school a place of fulfillment and joy for her students.” Colleagues and students alike mourned the loss of an educator who inspired both in and outside the classroom.
