Kinshasa Bypass Project: Government Boosts Resident Compensation

Kinshasa, November 22, 2025 - During an inspection of the Kinshasa Bypass construction site, Secretary General for Infrastructure Georges Koshi announced that 105 landowners will receive compensation in the project’s second phase, totaling US$4 million.

Koshi expressed satisfaction with the progress of the works and the consensus reached with residents, assuring that no one would be left behind, in line with presidential directives. Following 99 payments in the first phase, the inter-ministerial expropriation commission continues to assist families without property titles to regularize their claims.

The 72-kilometer Rocades road, financed under the Sino-Congolese program and executed by CREC 4 and CREC 8 under ACGT supervision, aims to permanently ease congestion in Kinshasa.
