Katanga Consultations Urge Support For Tshisekedi

By Amina Kabasele2 min read

Lubumbashi, August 2, 2026 - Raphaël Katebe Katoto concluded four days of consultations in Lubumbashi with notables, civil society representatives, church leaders, entrepreneurs, youth and women's groups, urging support for President Félix Tshisekedi's administration.

Katoto said the country was on the right path and called on participants not to seek the overthrow of the government. He said a memorandum of grievances would be sent to the president under the theme of living together harmoniously.

The consultations took place in Haut-Katanga, a politically sensitive and economically strategic mining region. Participants used the meetings to raise concerns linked to social cohesion, economic opportunity and governance, while local leaders framed dialogue with the central government as a way to preserve stability and development momentum.
