The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, is expected on Sunday, 5 October 2025, in Mbuji-Mayi, the capital of Kasaï Oriental, for an official visit focused on the socio-economic development of the province. According to Governor Jean-Paul Mbwebwa Kapo, the Head of State will inaugurate the official university of Mbuji-Mayi, inspect several infrastructure projects and meet with local authorities to discuss the revival of the Bakwanga Mining Company (MIBA), a declining pillar of the economy.
