Kasai-Central: Teachers in Demba Boycott Classes Over Unpaid Wages
Kinshasa, December 6, 2025 - Central - Teachers in the Demba territory of Kasai-Central province began an indefinite strike on Thursday, December 4, 2025, suspending classes to protest delayed salary payments dating back to September, amounting to three months of arrears.
The situation, described as "miserable" by the union spokesperson, has left many teachers’ families struggling to make ends meet and paralyzed the local education system.
The teachers are demanding the immediate payment of their accumulated salaries and have threatened to continue the strike until their demands are met.
