Ituri: Road Users Concerned About Critical Condition of Bunia-Kasenyi Road
The approximately 60-kilometer Bunia-Kasenyi road is in very poor condition, making travel extremely difficult for vehicles, motorcycles, and trucks that rely on it daily for cross-border trade with Uganda.
Torrential rains have damaged the road surface, weakened several bridges, and caused flooding that has blocked traffic, resulting in at least twenty heavy goods vehicle accidents in October and frequent vehicle breakdowns.
Drivers and traders are urging the provincial government to intervene swiftly, through the toll company, to rehabilitate this strategic road, essential for the transport of goods and fish products. No official response has yet been received.
