Kinshasa, November 8, 2025 - Modernization work at Morongo Airport (Bunia) in Ituri province is advancing rapidly, with a 90% completion rate, according to Paul Bunagana, provincial commander of the Civil Aviation Authority (RVA), on Friday, November 14, 2025.
Funded by the central government and executed by the Mont Gabaon company, the project includes widening the runway, constructing a new terminal, installing a control tower, building a fire station, and developing an aircraft parking area.
Scheduled for completion in March 2026, this modern infrastructure will accommodate wide-body aircraft, improve connectivity within the province, and stimulate trade, contributing to economic recovery and opening up a region long affected by armed violence.
