Ituri (DRC): 18 STAR-EST Projects to Be Handed Over to Local Communities Soon
Bunia, December 6, 2025 - Eighteen community development projects implemented in the territories of Irumu and Djugu - including the construction of schools and health centers and the rehabilitation of agricultural roads - Were presented on Monday, December 1, 2025, at an evaluation meeting in Bunia.
The meeting brought together provincial authorities, traditional leaders, civil society representatives, and experts from the provincial advisory committee.
These infrastructure projects, carried out under the government's STAR-EST program, which aims at stabilizing conflict zones, are set to be officially handed over to local authorities by January 2026 to directly benefit local communities.
According to coordinator Steve Singida, these achievements strengthen local resilience and promote peace. The governor commended their impact and encouraged the continuation of the program into its second phase, scheduled for 2026.
