IOM and Government Collaborate to Strengthen Legal Protection for Migrant Children
Niamey, November 27, 2025 - Friday, November 21 - The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Niger, in collaboration with the Ministry in charge of child protection, is undertaking a comprehensive compilation of legislative texts and frameworks applicable to children in mobility situations.
Announced during World Children's Day commemorations on November 21, the initiative seeks to identify legal gaps and harmonize national legislation with international standards. The project represents a proactive approach to addressing the vulnerabilities of migrant children, particularly those separated from their families, by strengthening legal protection mechanisms rather than relying on ad-hoc interventions.
