Kigali, 13 March 2026 - Abdul Samad Rabiu, one of Africa’s wealthiest investors, has praised President Paul Kagame for his visionary leadership and commitment to Rwanda’s development, calling him an example for Africa and beyond. Rabiu made the remarks following talks with President Kagame at an international conference on civilian nuclear energy, which brought together heads of state, government officials, and energy experts. “His visionary leadership, commitment to development, and determination to advance Rwanda continue to serve as an example for Africa and beyond. President Kagame is a great example of leaders dedicated to Africa’s future and the continent’s opportunities,” Rabiu said. President Kagame, who served as Head of Institutional Reforms of the African Union from 2016 to 2024, strengthened the organization’s functionality and economic stability, including the revival of the Peace Fund, which has raised $400 million. Under Kagame’s leadership, Rwanda has become one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa, maintaining annual growth rates of over 8%. Poverty has significantly declined due to targeted programs, with the Seventh Rwandan Population and Housing Survey (EICV7) showing poverty falling from 39.8% in 2017 to 27.4% in 2024, and extreme poverty dropping from 11.3% to 5.4%. Rabiu highlighted that these achievements reflect good governance that prioritizes the people and positions Rwanda as a model for sustainable development on the continent.
