IMF Approves First Review of Mali’s Supervised Services Program

Washington, December 15, 2025 - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the first review of Mali’s Supervised Services Program (SSP). The program is designed to strengthen macroeconomic policies, enhance governance, and lay the groundwork for a potential future financing agreement.

Malian authorities have reportedly made progress in fiscal management and reducing vulnerabilities, despite ongoing security challenges. This approval signals international confidence in Mali’s economic trajectory and could unlock additional financing, potentially boosting projected growth to 5-6% in 2026, aligned with the Regional Economic Council (RES) fiscal self-sufficiency goals.

Analysts caution that further reforms are needed to mitigate risks stemming from insecurity and dependence on raw materials, ensuring sustainable economic stability.
