Health Financing: Mali and Global Fund Align on New Strategic Priorities
Bamako, April 21, 2026 - Mali is advancing discussions on the future of its health financing strategy as the Minister of Health and Social Development, Assa Badiallo Touré, held talks with a delegation from the Global Fund during a working visit to the country. The meeting took place within the framework of the national dialogue on the upcoming funding cycle, bringing together key stakeholders to define priorities for continued support to Mali’s health sector. Discussions focused on several strategic orientations, including the transition toward a more integrated financing approach, improvements in program performance, and the strengthening of the overall health system. Members of the Global Fund delegation welcomed progress made in recent years, particularly in the absorption of allocated resources and the implementation of health programs. However, they also stressed the importance of enhancing planning mechanisms to ensure greater efficiency and impact. Minister Touré expressed appreciation for the Global Fund’s sustained commitment to Mali, highlighting its critical role in supporting national health initiatives. She noted that the partnership has contributed to measurable progress and encouraging outcomes across key health indicators.
