Haut-Katanga: Torrential Rains Damage Over 400 Homes
Lubumbashi, November 22, 2025 - November 2025 - Heavy rains in Haut-Katanga province have caused flooding, landslides, and structural collapses, affecting more than 400 homes in Kampemba, Katuba, Kambove, and Kasenga.
Although no fatalities have been reported, hundreds of families are now homeless and exposed to harsh conditions, facing significant property losses. Kingombe Faray Lazare, head of the disaster management and humanitarian emergency office, called for urgent support from provincial and national authorities and emphasized the need for preventive measures, including road maintenance and dredging waterways, as the rainy season continues.
