French Ambassador in Bangui Investigated Over Alleged Misconduct
Bangui, 13 August 2026 - France has opened an investigation into its ambassador to the Central African Republic, Bruno Foucher, following allegations of misconduct involving women he reportedly brought to his official residence in Bangui.
The allegations, reportedly covering incidents between January 2024 and March 2026, emerged after claims that Foucher had invited numerous women to his residence and had sexual relations with some of them. Reports indicate that around 30 women may have visited the residence, with some allegedly being sex workers.
The French Foreign Ministry is investigating the ambassador’s conduct and whether the reported encounters created any security or professional risks. Foucher, 65, has not publicly commented on the allegations.
Foucher has served as France’s ambassador to the Central African Republic since 2023.
